Maybe it has something to do with Hizenberg's Uncertainty Principle....

Liz, for gawds sake, get Conor involved in this.

Spot on Cheesmeister!

Brendino - the reason it was called the Big Bang is because of one of its main detractors - Fred Hoyle (who ironically was the guy who provided the one of the most important elements into proving the Big Bang - the theory behind the composition of stars as we see them today). What happened was he was on radio in 195x and the interviewer was asking him about the 'inflationary universe theory' and he replied in a very smart-arse way something along the lines of, 'well I hardly thing it started with a Big Bang'. And, what do you know, but all the cool kids latched onto that one (of course for the rest of his life it was a bit of a thorn in old Hoyle's side). So hence we have the Big Bang.

Brendino, I'd be interested to know what explanation your 'friend' has for Newgrange, since it was built before the universe was created (at least according to the Bible and Bishop Usher's 4000-odd years).

Hey Liz, if you ever do see one of those strings going past will you let me know - I could do with a paper that would be well cited! Anyway, I could raise you an M, but only if I could measure it, and I forgot to bring my measuring Planck into college today  :D
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?  Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?  Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Universe is supposed to be around 6000 years old, this figure was calculated by an Irish bishop. Working out all the who begoth who in the bible and the avergae age of a person, don't know how this affects people like noah or metusla(spelling is wrong). Anyway I always visualise the big bang less as the start of time space but the formation of matter from energy. As we all know matter is just another form of energy and the point at which our universe started is just the change of energy from one form to another. This maybe due to my inablity to get around the expanded into; rather that this wave form, matter formed and spread through an engery function.
Oh dear me what I have to put up with in my head to try an figure out things. Soil process are complicated enough, though I get the sinking feeling that my modeling will include a bit of chaos theory or is that just chaos of my own creating?

This is a snippet of a conversation between Gene Rodenberry (Creator of Star Trek) and a synic scientist about the transporters on the Enterprise at a Trekkie Convention

Quote from: "Scientist"
So Gene, how do the Heisenberg Compensators work?

Quote from: "Gene Rodenberry"
Very Well, Thank You.

Colin,
My friend's mother (The Born Again Christian) said how can you know the age of things if it isn't recorded - as in the Bible.

People believe very strange things. I say let them believe what they want as long as it doesn't harm anyone else.

To quote from the great fountain of Knowkedge Miss Phoebe Bouffey

Quote from: "Ross"
You don't believe in evolution?

Quote from: "Phoebe"
I don't know, it's just, you know...monkeys, Darwin, you know, it's a, it's a nice story, I just think it's a little too easy.

Quote from: "Ross"
Too easy? Too...The process of every living thing on this planet evolving over millions of years from single-celled organisms, too easy?

Quote from: "Phoebe"
Yeah, I just don't buy it.

Quote from: "Ross"
Uh, excuse me. Evolution is not for you to buy, Phoebe. Evolution is scientific fact, like, like, like the air we breathe, like gravity

.
Quote from: "Phoebe"
Ok, don't get me started on gravity.

Quote from: "Ross"
You uh, you don't believe in gravity?

Quote from: "Phoebe"
Well, it's not so much that you know, like I don't believe in it, you know, it's just...I don't know, lately I get the feeling that I'm not so much being pulled down as I am being pushed.

People are always asking me if I know Tyler Durden.

Asho

When I said "Loser" I meant of course merely that you are a loser cos you were too late to say what Tom said.  So your timing sucks, but in all other respects you rock.

Which means that you are far removed (light years I imagine    ) from these other Friends-watchin, Star-Trekkin, Big-Bang-Goin-On-About LOSERS!!!!
